Properties: Crystals from alcohol. Saline taste. Slightly alkaline to litmus. pH of 1% soln about 7. Very freely sol in water, less sol in alc. Practically insol in ether. Reported to cause less gastric irritation than the free acid or the sodium salt.
Use: Catalyst in the manuf of condensation polymers of polyglycol ethers.
