Literature References: The commercial product is a mixture of variable proportions of glyceryl monostearate and glyceryl monopalmitate.
Properties: White, wax-like solid or wax-like beads, or flakes, mp 56-58°. Saponification value 164-170. Iodine value not more than 6. Soluble in hot organic solvents such as alcohol, benzene, ether, acetone, mineral or fixed oils. Insol in water, but may be dispersed in hot water with the aid of a small amount of soap or other suitable surface active agent.
