Properties: Hygroscopic crystals (large plates). mp 131°, dec 160°. Extremely soluble in water, liquid NH3; slightly soluble in ethanol; moderately soluble in glycerol, glycol, formamide. pH of 0.27M soln in H2O = 4.9. Aq solns are stable to boiling. LD50 orally in rats: 3.0 g/kg (Ambrose).
