Acetamide
Acetamide is an amide derived from acetic acid and has the formula CH3CONH2. The pure product is a white crystalline solid at room temperature and can be obtained by dehydration of ammonium acetate. It is used as a plasticizer and is an important raw material for organic synthesis. Acetamide is not very flammable, but it emits irritating fumes when burned. Inhalation, ingestion, skin and eye contact are toxic, and skin and eye contact may cause redness or pain.
