Safety Statements:  An eye and severe skin irritant. Very low toxicity by ingestion and intraperitoneal routes. No reports of human intoxication. Can cause kidney damage. Experimentally, there is a moderate fibrogenic effect on the lungs after intratracheal administration. Some niobium is found in all parts of the body. Flammable in the form of dust when exposed to flame or by chemical reaction. Moderately explosive in the form of dust when exposed to flame. Ignites in fluorine, chlorine (at 205°C).
