【Description】
Ceftiofur Hydrochloride Injection (suspension) is a ready-to-use formulation with tiny granules that sink to the vial on standing, and the suspension becomes uniform ivory-white liquid after shake well.
【Pharmacological action】
Ceftiofur hydrochloride injection is a β-lactam antibiotic, which is a broad spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria includingβ-lactamase-producing strains. Ceftiofur hydrochloride injection is indicated for the treatment and control of swine respiratory disease associated with Pasteurella multocida, Pasteurella haemolytica, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus suis, Staphylococcus and Haemophilus parasuis. Terminal phase biological half-life(t1/2 in hours) in swine is 23.88h. The time of maintaining effective plasma concentration is more than 5 days (if t>0.2ug/ml, the time is 136.57h) after a single intramuscular administration of Ceftiofur Hydrochloride Injection 5mg/kg.
【Indications】
Swine: Ceftiofur Hydrochloride Injection is indicated for the treatment of swine respiratory disease associated with Streptococcus suis, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, etc.
Cattle:
1 The drug is indicated for the treatment of Mastitis (swelling of the breast, breast becomes hard, skin redness, skin chapping, pain, hypogalactia, thin milk, a lump in the breast);
2 for the treatment of cow/cattle respiratory disease associated with transportation stress, pneumonia and bronchitis. For the treatment of footrot, omphalitis of calves, diarrhea of calves.
Dogs:
The drug is indicated for the treatment of Urinary tract infection, digestive tract infections and respiratory tract infection associated with Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis.
【Dosage and Administration】
Shake well before using.
Swine: Administer by intramuscular injection in the post-auricular region of the neck as a single dosage of 5mg ceftiofur per 1 kg body weight.
Cattle:
Administer by intramuscular injection as a single dosage of 0.5mg-1mg ceftiofur per 1 kg body weight in two injection sites (no more than 1000 mg ceftiofur should be injected.)
Dogs:
Administer by hypodermic injection as a single dosage of 5mg ceftiofur per 1 kg body weight.
【Contraindications】
As with all drugs, the use of Ceftiofur Hydrochloride Injection is contraindicated in animals previously found to be hypersensitive to the drug.
【Precautions】
1 Shake well before using.
2 Do not refrigerate。
3 If allergic reaction occurs, seek medical attention with injectable epinephrine.
4 Persons with a known hypersensitivity to penicillin or cephalosporin should avoid exposure to this product.
5 Keep out of reach of children.
