In the food industry, propylene glycol and propylene glycol fatty acid formation of fatty acid esters, mainly used as a food emulsifier; propylene glycol is a good solvent seasoning and pigment. Propylene glycol is commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry for the manufacture of various types of ointment, cream of solvent, softener and the excipient, the propylene glycol and various spices has good mutual solubility, therefore is also used in cosmetics solvent and softener and so on. Propylene glycol is also used for tobacco humidification agent, agent, lubricating oil food processing equipment, and food labeling ink solvent. Propylene glycol aqueous solution is effective antifreeze agent.
