Oxytocin is normally produced in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary.It plays a role in social bonding, sexual reproduction, childbirth, and the period after childbirth.Interestingly, oxytocin is not a "private peptide" of women, and men can also secrete oxytocin.
